Initially, I considered the DYER Fellowship as a “Why not?” possibility. Being a side project guy, I was very interested in entrepreneurship and wanted to use the fellowship to create Lafayette’s missing entrepreneurship minor for myself. But as I progressed through the selection stages and completed different teamwork and solo tasks, I came to understand that the fellowship is far greater than an entrepreneurship minor. It is about building relationships with other Fellows, working as a close team of friends for the next four years. It is about mentorship and support you receive, not only for DYER-related questions but for Lafayette in general. It is about the smart and successful people you will meet and dine with along your Fellowship journey. And that doesn’t even include the things I haven’t yet imagined but will encounter as a Fellow. So, if I had to describe what attracted me to the fellowship in three words today, I would call it a “window of opportunities.”
